What We Do
Pracademics aims to bridge the gap between research and practice for those working with children and young people.
Working with children and young people in any context can be challenging, complex and demanding. It can also be rewarding, humbling and meaningful. The issues we face working with children and young people require us to be up to date with relevant research and evidence based practice. We owe it to them to make sure we know how to do it right.
We provide knowledge translation to program developers, practitioners and other stakeholders in the human service sector to ensure the provision of evidence-based interventions to vulnerable clients
We provide training and coaching to organisations working with children, young people and families. We deliver engaging training workshops using case studies and practical examples. Ongoing coaching helps practitioners understand how to apply training concepts in practice.
We provide consultancy services to organisations to help you understand current research and translate it into policy or practice. We can help with advisory services, program design and development and developing a program logic.
We deliver skills based workshops to help prepare university students for field placement or for employment in graduate positions in the fields of psychology, criminology, social work and the human services.
We offer an annual affiliate membership to access newsletters, workshops and resources. Our membership aims to build a "Community of Pracademics" for professionals working with children, young people and families to help them connect with each other locally and globally.
